Lingerie Modeling

Have you always dreamed of a career in modeling but you don't fit the typical stereotype? When many people think of modeling, the picture they have in their mind is of six foot tall supermodels strutting down fashion catwalks. While this is one aspect of the industry, there are also others. One area for you to consider is lingerie modeling. Lingerie models fulfill a very specific niche in the fashion world, one that you may be perfect for you. These models can bring home anywhere from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars per day.

Not just anyone can make it as a lingerie model. Scouts and casting agents look for a certain type of woman depending on what the job is. For example, take a look at Victoria's Secret. You will notice the women shown in this lingerie catalog are lean, tall and tan. They are endowed with ample breasts and hips and have tiny waists. Of course, Victoria's Secret is considered the absolute pinnacle of success for lingerie models. Most models start off on much smaller jobs. They model for obscure and specialty catalogs, work trade shows and conventions and may even get small parts in films and on television.

Modeling certainly isn't all glitz and glamour. It is hard work most of the time. The hours are long and models must pose exactly as they are told for long periods of time. Sometimes shoots are conducted in some unpleasant conditions such as in the hot sun. To succeed as a lingerie model, you must have more than good looks. You will need stamina and determination. Speaking of determination, it takes it in droves to get through audition after audition. In modeling, there are many rejections. You must be able to keep on trying until you succeed. It is also essential to have a good agent to represent you and help you find work.

If you believe lingerie modeling is for you, the first thing you should do is get in the best shape possible. Your body must be in top form yet not be overly muscular. Then, find yourself a professional photographer and create a portfolio. Your portfolio is a book that you will show to potential clients and agents and is absolutely essential to your success. Another tip is to attend go-sees, which are like interviews where the client meets you and looks at your portfolio. The bottom line is that the more you pound the pavement looking for work, the more work you will get. With experience, you will be able to command higher rates and find better jobs.
